HW: Read this entry from Wikipedia on Web Brigades and two recent articles from the New York Times:“Twitter, With Accounts Linked to Russia, to Face Congress Over Role in Election” and “How Russia Harvested American Rage to Reshape U.S. Politics.” Poke around on the Alliance for Securing Democracy’s Hamilton 68 dash. Finally, use your Twitter account to post quotations, problems, or questions worth discussing on Thursday.
In class: Researching your phenomena, introductions to Zotero and Pocket.
HW: Get started on Zotero by having each member add a reading or two to your collaborative account. Tweet one of the readings with a comment (don’t forget the course hashtag #WRTf17). Respond to a classmate’s post.
In class: Picking readings for the class and writing discussion questions; Twitter chats

Meet with your group to continue planning your discussion and brainstorm possible counter-technologies.
HW: Keep me posted by having one group member email me a summary of your meeting that includes: when and where you met and who was present; a 1-2 sentence definition of your proposed phenomenon; a ¶ detailing the history of the phenomenon; an evaluation of 3-5 articles in the news about your phenomenon; a list of search terms you are using; a list of 1-3 counter-technologies.
